Who would believe that the toothpaste that you’ve been using for years can actually cause brain damage? Yet it is the fluoride contained in the toothpaste that does just that. Did you know that if you swallow just a small amount of the toothpaste, that you are advised to seek medical attention immediately? Go ahead and read the little paper that comes with your toothpaste if you doubt this information.
What the Toothpaste Insert Reveals
Here is the exact wording of the insert that comes with Colgate Cavity Protection toothpaste (a fluoride toothpaste):
“WARNINGS:
As with all fluoride toothpastes, keep out of the reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.” *
*http://www.colgateprofessional.com/products/Colgate-Cavity-Protection-Toothpaste/specifics
What’s that again – “…contact a poison control center”? Now why would such strong wording be included with the toothpaste if it were not true? To be precise, the presence of fluoride in the toothpaste is what makes it so dangerous, and yes indeed IT IS a poison; even a cumulative poison.
Isn’t Fluoride Supposed to be Good for Your Teeth?
This is the mantra routinely trotted out by unthinking dentists to the gullible public, and is even included in the description of the Colgate Cavity Protection toothpaste. Yet there has NEVER been a study that verified such this preposterous claim that has been repeated a zillion times by numbskull dentists and their assistants. In fact, the truth is exactly the opposite. Fluoridating people causes, guess what – fluorosis! Fluorosis is the process by which fluoride replaces healthy magnesium in the teeth and bones, causing white spots and brittleness. Fluorosis is defined as fluorine poisoning. When fluorine is combined with another element, its name changes from fluorine to fluoride, such as sodium fluoride. The discoloration shown in the photo above is the first sign of fluoride poisoning.
In advanced cases of fluorosis, the enamel chips away. I’ve personally witnessed this problem.
In Brooklyn, NY, a boy died when he swallowed fluoride gel while sitting in a dentist chair.
If fluorosis weren’t bad enough, fluoride also destroys the brain!
Fluoride Makes you Stupid
One of the ways that fluoride can reduce your I.Q. (Intelligence Quotient) is that it displaces essential iodine. If one has a lack of iodine in their brain, they are predisposed to cretinism, which is mental (and physical) retardation. For more information on iodine, see my article Iodine and Hormone Balance.
Fluoride is also efficient at bringing aluminum into your brain, leading to Alzheimer’s disease. Drinking a fluoridated beverage from aluminum cans puts one in the fast lane for Alzheimer’s disease. You get two poisons at the same time.
Fluoride is very toxic. As you can see in the table below, fluoride is more toxic than lead, and almost as toxic as arsenic.
Isn’t it interesting that the EPA relaxed the maximum contaminant levels for fluoride, but not for lead and arsenic (see chart above). This is highly suspicious, but in line with the fluoridation politics of municipal water supplies and modern dentistry. Taking toxicity into account, the upper limit for Fluoride should be in the 10-15 ppb range instead.
Much ado was made of taking lead out of paints because babies might swallow chips of leaded paint. But where is the call to take fluoride out of toothpaste? And why do people insist on having their water supplies fluoridated, forcing those who know about fluoride to be poisoned? If I want to be medicated, I prefer to do it on my own, assuming I believed that I could be medicated with poison! Another important point about fluoride is that it uptakes lead along with aluminum and transports it to the brain.
Fluoride Hardens Your Arteries
An excellent article has already been written that describes how fluoride hardens your arteries at: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/05/21/fluoride-health-hazards.aspx . Other reasons for hardening of the articles can be seen in my previous article entitled Hardening of the Arteries.
Other Toxic Ingredients in Fluoride Toothpaste
If fluoride wasn’t bad enough, there are even more reasons to throw away your old toothpaste. Typically, the following is found in conventional toothpastes:
-
Sodium fluoride: a toxic byproduct of aluminum and fertilizer chemical factories
-
Triclosan: a pesticide chemical used as a preservative
-
Propylene glycol: anti-freeze used in cars!
-
Sodium Laureth Sulfate: a toxic detergent used as a foaming agent
-
Artificial sweeteners: like saccharin and the brain-damaging aspartame
-
DEA: another foaming agent that is toxic to the liver and kidneys
When you spit out the toothpaste, you cannot assume that the harmful chemicals did not enter your body. It turns out the area under your tongue is very receptive to absorbing chemicals and other substances, good or bad.
A Healthy Alternative to Conventional Toothpaste
During the great depression of the 1930s, people tried to save money any way they could. One way was to use baking soda, which not only cleans the teeth, but also freshens the breath. To whiten teeth, adding a small amount of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide is added. Even in newer brands of toothpastes, they are incorporating these old standbys, but still include the toxic ingredients.
An innovative new toothpaste that is also a mouthwash and breath freshener has been introduced, called OraMD. I highly recommend it and you can read about it and purchase it here: http://store.naturalnews.com/OraMD-The-Mouth-Doctor-_p_266.html.
I think the best overall oral treatment can be obtained by using a combination of baking soda, 3% food-grade hydrogen peroxide, and essential oils of Almond, Spearmint, and Peppermint. All these items can be purchased separately so that you can make your own oral formula. I’ll make a formulation for you upon request.

Ciao, bel lavoro. Potete per favore citare alcune fonti di informazioni per favore?
The source of information is given in the text, by Colgate themselves. Their insert testifies to the toxicity of fluoride. Likewise, credit is given to other sources such as the pictures of sodium fluoride bag marked Toxic. What references did I miss? The article is my own.
Hi Yohanan and Everyone,
Just wanted to share that my husband and I have been using sea salt / Himalayan salt to brush our teeth – a natural subtitute to toothpaste that really works. We first found out about this on a YouTube video where this 103-year-old Taiwanese man displayed a perfect set of teeth – never lost any – as he has been dry brushing with salt for years!
My dad and aunt tried and they immediately felt the benefits (especially with them being in their late 50s and 60s). My dad had receding gums and three root canal ops. After using salt to brush his teeth for several weeks, his guns grew back – even our family dentist had to admit that it works.
My husband also uses baking soda mixed with coconut oil which is a great natural lubricant after the rinsing.
Just another natural alternative for anyone who is game to try 🙂
Jane
I truly appreciate personal testimonials with alternate methods of achieving wellness. Salt is a well known antidote for putrefaction, so the testimonial about the 103-year-old man with all his teeth doesn’t surprise me. Kudos for using baking soda mixed with coconut oil. Why not mix all three together – the baking soda, coconut oil, and the Himalayan salt?
You know what, you are right? I will try that out! Thanks!!
Sorry I meant “You are right!”
Howdy! I simply would like to give you a big thumbs up for the great info you have right here on this post. I’ll be returning to your blog for more soon.

It’s really a cool and useful piece of info. I am glad that you shared this helpful information with us. Please keep us up to date like this. Thanks for sharing.
Our bodies have absolutely no need for fluoride in any form. It is toxic, period. Note the link at the bottom of this post for ways to eject fluoride that has already made its way into your body.
The young people of today are so lucky that they have the internet to be able to access great information like this, If I knew about brushing with sea salt and staying away from fluoride when I was young I might still have all my teeth today.Celtic sea salt would be another option as lt supplies all 82 trace minerals needed by the human body.
I got on the Internet just in time to solve serious problems, such as skin cancer. I experimented and succeeded in ridding myself of it using something called Cansema. I never would have known about Cansema were it not for the Internet. Many other excellent health tips are on the web – but you must be discerning. One site that has a high degree of accuracy and honesty is Mike Adam’s site naturalnews.com.
Howdy! Would you mind if I share your blog with my
zynga group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really enjoy
your content. Please let me know. Thanks
You are welcome to share my blog as long as you give me credit for writing it. Thanks, Yohanan.

I’ m one of the dentists described above. As long as we have the infection of caries in our mouths we need fluoride to stop the growth of cariotic bacterias on the teeth. If we notcare infected it’s not necessary, although the brushing itself is very important when it makes the mechanical process of getting rid of the bacterias possible. Fluoride is not a real drug making caries disappear it’s just a break medicine that slow down the activity. The best way to fight caries is through the diet with sugar and carb restriction and with eating food only at mealtimes. But the western way living doesn’t prepare us for living a healthy life, so as long as the lifestyle is full of bad foods we need the toothpaste to protect us. If you don’t swallow certain amounts of the paste you can’t get fluorosis, and you don’t eat it, do you? It’s more important to know about the water you drink if it contains much fluoride. In Sweden where I am from we drink our tap water and the mineral halts can be very different. And you should know that black tea contains fluoride in some amounts. So finally if you know your lifestyle is kind of stressy with fast foods and energy bars etc. you stress your mouth a lot and give a chance to the bacterias to grow in the plaque that the fast food develop on your teeth. Then you need toothpaste with fluoride to protect you from caries, if you like to keep you teeth throughout your life. But if you are very healthy and have no stress in your life then you can keep it out! So I should put my energy in trying to be more healthy, but on my way I would think once or twice so I don’t get bad teeth !
There are much better options for getting rid of oral bacteria, such as hydrogen peroxide or baking soda, neither of which are poisonous. The same cannot be said of fluoride, and even bags of fluoride are labeled toxic: see the photos of bags of fluoride in the article for proof.
I am writing because 8 years ago I started using sensodyne because my best friends dentist gave her a sample and told her it would help her sensitivity. For 8years I’ve been a faithful customer and she has as well. For the last 2 1/2 years we have both been experiencing many different medical issues but both having the same. The only thing we could think was that while in Florida we drank the city tap water. It had seemed since that trip we had both been sick and have both under gone numerous kinds of testing. For 2 years before that I was experiencing thyroid issues with nodules that started growing causing many different problems. I also have genetic hemachromatosis so I thought that maybe my issues were because of this. Both my friend and I have had redness on the neck and chest that looks like a rash under the skin. Friday i decided to cross reference sensodyne and the possibility of a change in ingredients. In doing so I have found many websites that has numerous people that have experienced the same medical issues. Some have all the symptoms and others have a few. I stopped using the toothpaste Friday. Both my friend and I feel like if we go to the doctor with this thought they will laugh us out off the office. I’ve had nuclear testing on my thyroid, numerous endoscopies and 2colonoscopies, blood tests, diagnosed with issues that the doctors didn’t know how both of us have issues with our esophogus and both were told that they thought it was GERDS until the test results came back negative and they had no answers. It wasn’t until I did the cross reference that I realized the true common denominator of both our medical issues. The only thing we do the same daily is brush our teeth with Sensodyne pronamel. Not once did any of these doctors ask her or myself what kind of toothpaste did we use. I’m at a loss here not knowing what I should do other then quit brushing my teeth with toothpaste period and go to pulling oil instead. I don’t have a clue I’d these medical issues will heal now but I do know that I’m very angry. I thought i had rinsed my mouth well each time i brushed. I thought because a dentist said this was a good product that it was safe. I’m very disturbed that a toothpaste could wreak havoc on my life as it has. There are many more medical issues then what I have written here but those are the biggest.
