Is it a Crime to eat Cherries?

I think for a pair of old fossils, (that’s what Jonathan calls us) we both look in pretty good shape, healthy, happy and enjoy life!

Seemingly Jonathan and I are partners in crime, because in some parts of the world it’s a crime to want to be healthy. Go figure! It appears that some governments are wanting to take control of every aspect of our lives by passing laws, against growing our own fruit and vegetables, keeping backyard animals like chickens and goats, and enforcement of vaccinations, all becoming crimes committed if disobeyed. The other day I was reading that in some states in the USA, 6 year old kids are being prescribed Ritalin Methylphenidate (an amphetamine and psycho-stimulant drug known as Speed) which is, contrary to what we’re told by doctors, a very addictive drug. Methylphenidate also possesses some structural and pharmacological similarities to cocaine, and is sometimes used as a controlled substitute for replacement therapy for cocaine addicts. Just as Methadone is a substitute for heroin addicts. I know a little about drugs because I’m a Certified Addictions and Substance Abuse Counselor by profession.

The FDA prohibit the use of Ritalin on children under the age of six years old thank G-d, but there are no proven studies on the long term effect on the developing brain. Yet doctors worldwide, are giving these drugs out to children like chocolate buttons and no one knows what the outcome will be. One day I feel, that we’re going to be faced perhaps, with a couple of generations of brain damaged young people. What is the world coming to and who is committing the crime here? Is our liberty of freedom not being taken away from us?

If you suffer from arthritic pain or Gout, I have Osteoarthritis, or you have other painful problems too, so keep on reading;

Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, I’d gained a lot of weight and although I was still eating a relatively healthy diet, including a ‘lot of healthy cake’ I was eating too much and I’d stopped exercising. Some time after the diagnosis I lost most of the weight about 30 kilos, which helped my condition, but unfortunately not enough to stop the deterioration of my arthritic left hip. I believe I had just overused some of my joints from too much physical work,  too many repetitive gym exercises, and too much alcohol!

Just a few weeks ago I made the list for becoming a bionic woman. My left hip has been totally and successfully replaced. My arthritic hip had just given out all together and I was in agony. I had to succumb to paracetamol/codeine (zombie pills again) to relieve the unbearable pain. Then Jonathan told me about cherries and proceeded to buy me kilos of organic dried tart cherries. I kid you not when I say, that I went from six codeine a day to only one, after the daily cherry fest. I was almost pain-free and the pain has subsided in my fingers and other affected arthritic joints.

Cherries are a super fruit: Anthocyanins are the key antioxidant compound in this fruit. Along with providing the dark red pigment in tart cherries, these phytonutrients have been specifically linked to high antioxidant capacity, and reduced inflamation at levels comparable to some well-known pain medications.

According to the Red Report: Tart cherries are packed with powerful antioxidants. In fact, they have among the highest levels of antioxidants of other super foods.

Tart cherries ranked 14 in the top 50 foods for highest antioxidant content per serving size — surpassing well-known leaders such as red
wine, prunes, dark chocolate and orange juice, according to one recent study.

I’ve continued to have a  handful of cherries every day. If it works for me, it might just work for you too.

To good health. Tovah
